New planters on Despard House platform

The Coburg Crescent carpark was closed for several months from autumn 2024 into spring 2025, for use by the Lambeth Capital Works team for a contractor site welfare facility for works not on the Palace Road Estate.

PRERA flagged to Lambeth last year that in our experience once contractors are finished, all the damage caused – ie. damaged bollards, damaged grass and potholes etc – are not properly repaired before leaving site, which leaves residents upset and the cost of resolving those issues at a later date passed onto service charge paying residents and Lambeth.

PRERA has been in regular contact with Durkan (the external contractor for the works) and flagged a number of snagging issue, that were resolved promptly after they left site.

As a goodwill gesture Durkan also provided new planters and soil free of charge for the inconvenience caused to residents. They have been put on Despard House Platform and the gardening group have planted them with sunflowers, tomatoes and sweet peas grown by our residents (making the most of the sunny position).

Thank you to the resident volunteers who moved the soil from the entrance of Coburg Crescent (the closest it could be delivered) up into the new planters on the platform on Despard. Many wheelbarrow trips were made! And for all the plants! And thank you for Durkan for being a considerate and engaged contractor (not our usual experience)!
