Street bins collection on Coburg Crescent

The street bins on Coburg Crescent are a (mostly) un-numbered chaotic mess that has been caused by un-numbered bins, UKPN works blocking access, emergency collection crews then muddling up the bins, and now residents now not retrieving their bins.

PRERA arranged a walkabout last month with Linda Elliott and Sashi Reddy from Lambeth to discuss issues regarding the bins, refuse collection, littering, and fly-tipping on Palace Road Estate. This post update focuses on the street bins on Coburg Crescent (an update on the block bins will follow when we have more information).

Bins should be kept in the font/rear of property collections points – not left on the street or pavement – and it is the households responsibility to collect their bins promptly after emptying every week.

Lambeth sent out a letter following our walkabout to rectify the confusion caused by Serco’s letter in Autumn 2024 regarding where bins should be located for collection and to remind people that they need to go and collect their bins after each weekly collection.

Coburg Crescent properties have designated collection points at both the front and rear as follows (this is due to the unusual design our our estate with the pedestrian areas off Coburg Crescent):

Bin collection from rear of property (from service road):

  • 10-21
  • 24-50
  • 61-71
  • 80-100
  • 111-127

Bin collection from front of property (from driveway)

  • 22-23
  • 51-60
  • 72-79
  • 101-110
  • 128-129

Lambeth have informed PRERA that ‘abandoned bins’ in the road and on pavements not retrieved by residents will start to be removed from the estate from June 2025.
