Sunday 27th July saw residents and neighbours come together to celebrate our second summer Community Day, enjoying a packed afternoon of music and activities.
Lambeth’s Getting Involved Grant funded all the day’s activities including the soft play area, games area, bouncy castle, and face painting – all massive hits! So was The Hive Cafe‘s delicious BBQ food including 90 free children’s meals for children from the estate also funded by the grant.
Estate resident DJ Derron provided the soundtrack to the day with a set list of brilliant tunes. Future Groove took to the ‘stage’ with estate resident Yul on the keyboard, and singer Helen McDonald, playing a mix of classic and original jazz, funk and soul tracks.
They were followed by Brixton Chamber Orchestra who played an outstanding set as part of their annual Summer Estates Tour.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered before and during the event. We hope everyone enjoyed the day.
